Am I ready to adopt a baby?

Since I was small, my grandmother told me how difficult and stressful her life was as an orphan. Few years ago, I got a chance to visit an orphanage. The kids in the orphanage were very happy and excited to see the visitors. This excitement made me convinced to adopt a baby.

When I tell this to my family and friends, they smiled and appreciated me for my positivity, but when they realized that I am really serious about this, they start telling me how difficult my life would be, specially because I want to adopt a baby very early in my life ( I Am 22 and planning to adopt next year, when I will be in my Masters).  So here I would like to mention my reasons, why I want to adopt. (Please feel free to comment and express your concern about my decision)8a510445b31c80be94a7fb1a81d9aee4

  1. Although orphanages provides food, clothes and shelter to the orphans, but I believe that the children needs more than that. They need a family who value and love them.

  2. I want to give them importance. In orphanages, all kids are treated in a same way, everyday. They have fixed timetable for everything. From food to clothes, they do what they are asked to do. I want them to have a life just like how I had. Free and fun.
Requesting my mother to make my favorite dish, or convinced her to buy me the clothes that I liked are some good memories, which I believe all children deserve.

  3. People who goes through tough time in there life tend to be more talented and hardworking if they are given the chance. I want to provide the kid with the best education so my baby can take part in the wellbeing of our society. I believe kids can become champions only if they are given the correct path.

  4. Parents are the biggest blessings of Allah. I have been away from my parents since last 4 years. I know how it feels to be away from family. But whenever I am happy, sad, sick, tired, stressed, tensed or angry, I Skype with my parents and share my problems. But unfortunately orphans can’t even wish to meet or call their parents.

  5. In my life I have been attending a lot of weddings. I have never seen in my 22 years life any orphanage invited to attend a wedding. They spent their entire life in orphanage and have no idea how weddings are. They don’t know what Mehndi Henna Night, Bridal Shower, Valima reception etc means.

These are just few of many reasons that I have to adopt a kid. Honestly, I sometimes feels scared that after I will  die, God will ask me “ Why you didn’t do anything for the orphans?”
And I won’t have any answer to that. Will I say “Because my society was not accepting” or “ Because people around me were too scared that I will ruin my life and career”.

This fear make me want to adopt a baby more. I  hope one day soon, I will proudly post a blog showing my adopted baby (ies).

PS: if you are capable of affording a child, please do so. Orphans also deserve a family.

PSS: Please let me know if my decision is okay or should I wait few more years?

Happy life.

-Peace ❤

Truck Art – Colourful Side of Pakistan

The beautiful raindrops are falling from the sky on the trees. The sun, filtering from the sky is touching the leaves, and reflecting back into these wonderful combinations of green, yellow and orange as if the rainbow is reflecting back from the leaf.

This in not a scene from a natural beautiful scenery neither it is the scene from a romantic movie. This is something, which is fascinated by most but is unique to most. This is a stunning form of art which Pakistanis witness every day moving across the roads. This form of art is called “TRUCK ART”, but for the driver, it is their beautiful baby.

Truck Art is an indigenous form of art, which originates from Pakistan. This art combines together the beautiful floral arts, colour designs, poetic calligraphy, portraits of heroes and actors, designed mirrors, jingling bells and tassels and colourful animals. This is why the English names for these trucks became, “Jingling Truck”.

Believe it or not, these vehicle drivers spent from $3000 to $5000 on each vehicle. Why? Because they simply love their vehicle. For them and their family, their vehicle Is their pride, their everything.

Each and every component in these masterpieces contains meaning. Usually, the most common art pieces contain shapes of the peacock, tiger, pigeon etc. Peacock usually presents the beauty of Pakistan, but for their driver, the peacock is the pride for their bus. Pigeons symbolise the peace, harmony and love which also present the personality of the driver.

The arts of each region perfects the beauty of their art in their signature way. Where Rawalpindi uses plastic decoration, Karachi uses reflective tapes which are locally called “Chammak Patti”. The cities like Quetta and Peshawar, which is North of Pakistan, uses wood trimming.
The back of the vehicle is often used to honour and tribute the celebrities.

My grandmother – My inspiration

Raised as an orphan and living away from her baby brother for almost half of her life, my grandmother’s courage, hard work, determination and will power inspired me throughout my life. She was my mother, my teacher and my best friend. I can hardly remember any time when I met she complained about anything that made her sad, tensed or annoyed.

My late grandmother, my inspiration.

She started her life as a poor orphan, living with her grandparents. Her mother passed away and her father left her. Her younger 6 months old brother was taken away. She spent her life studying and helping her grandparents in the small family business. She got married at an early age and had 5 kids.

Since her younger days, she had a dream to become a doctor, though the poor family situation didn’t allow her to, but her will power and determination made her start her own businesses. She rented a 2 bedroom apartment in a busy area and started working. Saving each and every penny she can. Despite being middle class, she encouraged her children to study and gave them education from good schools and universities. My mother and all her siblings are graduates from prestigious universities. My mother being the eldest helped my grandmother in every aspect. The both were the main pillars of the family.

Raising 5 children as a single mother is not easy but she made it like a piece of cake. She worked so hard not form money but for herself, her aims which she wanted to fulfil. Slowly and gradually, she bought a small house, where she started ladies training centre. She used to teach stitching, pottery, painting, cooking and what not. After seeing her hard work and communication skills, she got a marketing job in one of the best marketing and PR agency in Pakistan. She worked there and bought a bigger home.

She was also like a psychiatrist but without a degree, a good listener and good advisor. I remember every time I used to go her place, there were always people sitting, sharing their life problem, tension and even married couple problems. She used to give them advice and solution. She never protested or used bad words, but she used her wisdom. She was known to be the “wisest” in the area.

She was socially active. She attended the gatherings, events and functions. She loved gardening. She had a big garden where she used to plant all the vegetables and fruits. She had a mini bird zoo in her garden. Peacock, ducks, chicken, parrots and other birds were like her mini kids. She was a painter. She was a great advisor. she was like a best friend to all the people she met in her life. She was so perfect in every angle.

She passed away in 2011 at the age of 64. Fighting her liver problems. Even the time she was very sick and in pain, she never complained to anyone but will always say : “Bas Allah ka Karam hai” ( It’s just Allah blessing on me).

My mother always used to say:
She was born without a name, as an orphan. But she passed away making a place in everyone’s heart. She died but she always is remembered!

My grandmother, my Naani Mamma, my inspiration!
